Everything You Need To Know About MLS Season Pass On Apple TV+

The 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season is upon us. Luckily for MLS fans, a new streaming service will make watching games much easier.

The regular season kicks off on February 25 at 4:30 p.m. ET when New York City Football Club (FC) visits Nashville FC, and thanks to a new partnership with Apple TV+, fans can stream the game with the new MLS Season Pass streaming service.

Every MLS game through the end of the season in mid-October will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass. Highlights of the 2023 season will include St. Louis City FC’s very first game, the first regular-season match at the Rose Bowl since 2002 (which is, of course, going to be a Los Angeles rivalry game), and the Leagues Cup, where MLS teams will be playing teams from Liga MX (the professional league from Mexico).

Whether you’re a longtime fan or just now getting into soccer (maybe even thanks to Apple TV+’s Emmy-winning soccer comedy, Ted Lasso!), there’s a lot of value in MLS Season Pass. Between special pricing for Apple TV+ subscribers, no regional blackouts, and an exclusive show that’s essentially the MLS equivalent of NFL RedZone, it’s a worthy investment.

Since the service is so new, we figure you might have some questions. The good news is we have answers. Read on for everything you need to know about MLS Season Pass.

WHAT IS MLS SEASON PASS?

MLS Season Pass is a new streaming service that will stream every game of the 2023 MLS season. The service, which requires a separate subscription, exists within the Apple TV app following Apple’s 10-year, 2.5 billion dollar purchase of the Major League Soccer streaming rights.

In addition to every regular season MLS match and the playoffs, MLS Season Pass will also include MLS NEXT Pro and MLS NEXT matches, every game of the Leagues Cup (where MLS teams will face off against professional teams from the Mexican Liga), and a live “whip-around” show that bounces between games so you never miss an exciting moment or a big play.

MLS Season Pass has a team of 80 multilingual on-air personalities that will serve as match analysts, play-by-play announcers, and studio analysts. Together, they’re one of the largest groups of on-air personalities for a single sport.

HOW MUCH DOES MLS SEASON PASS COST?

The price of MLS Season Pass depends on your Apple TV+ subscription status. While you don’t need to be an Apple TV+ subscriber to sign up for MLS Season Pass, you will get a discount if you are.

MLS Season Pass costs $12.99/month or $79/season for Apple TV+ subscribers and $14.99/month or $99/season for those without Apple TV+. You can sign up for MLS Season Pass by heading to the Apple TV+ website, making an Apple account (if you don’t already have one), and entering your payment information.

As a reminder, Apple TV+ costs $6.99/month, and is home to Apple originals, including Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Severance, and so much more.

DOES MLS SEASON PASS HAVE A FREE TRIAL?

MLS Season Pass currently does not offer a free trial. However, all 14 opening weekend matches will be free to watch — all you need is an Apple ID.

ARE THERE REGIONAL BLACKOUTS ON MLS SEASON PASS?

No! When they say every game, they mean every game.

Unlike most other sports streaming services, your location won’t impact your ability to stream your local team’s games, even if your local cable networks don’t carry them.

CAN I WATCH ANY MATCHES FOR FREE?

Every Saturday, six MLS matches will stream free on Apple TV. You won’t even need an Apple TV+ subscription to watch the six free matches in the Apple TV app — a regular, free Apple ID is enough.

To find out which matches are free, check out the MLS schedule, which has all the information you’ll need.

WILL MLS SEASON PASS HAVE OTHER SOCCER-RELATED CONTENT?

Yes! Along with every game, MLS Season Pass will have original and licensed series, including:

  • The Ritual – deep dives into the rituals and cultures that connect MLS fans
  • Beyond the Pitch – explores the business and passion projects of MLS players off the pitch
  • Iconic Players – relive memorable moments from MLS’ most iconic players
